Dam Battlegrounds Complete Map Guide — Loot, Extractions, and Routes

Dam Battlegrounds is structured around the massive Alcantara Power Plant — commonly called 'The Dam' — which dominates the center of the map. The Power Plant is the highest-loot area on the map, packed with rare material spawns, weapon crates, and locked rooms. It's also the most contested location, frequently attracting multiple squads and dense ARC patrols. Approaching the Power Plant requires careful timing and awareness of nearby players.

The Research Campus sits to the northeast and offers a strong alternative loot path with less player traffic than the Power Plant. It contains medical supplies, electronic components, and occasional rare spawns. Dam Crest is the elevated ridge running along the dam structure itself, providing excellent overwatch positions for snipers and long-range players. From Dam Crest, you can scout the Power Plant approaches and pick off players moving through the waterlogged lowlands below.

The Controlled Access Zone is a restricted area that was a hotfix target in patch 1.18.0 after players discovered exploitable spawns. It now features rebalanced loot and a more dangerous ARC presence. Patch 1.17.0 added new traversable areas to the map's eastern edge, expanding the playable zone and introducing additional extraction options. The wall clip exploit at Controlled Access Zone that allowed players to bypass locked doors was fixed in patch 1.20.0.

Dam Battlegrounds features four key-locked rooms that contain premium loot unavailable in standard containers. The Dam Control Tower Key opens the main control room at the top of the Power Plant, which consistently spawns rare crafting materials and occasionally high-tier weapon parts. This is the most valuable key on the map and sells for a premium if you don't plan to use it yourself.

The Dam Staff Room Key unlocks a side room in the Power Plant's lower levels with mid-tier loot — worth using but not worth buying specifically. The Dam Surveillance Key opens a security office overlooking the Controlled Access Zone, providing both loot and a tactical vantage point. The Dam Testing Annex Key accesses a laboratory space with electronic components and Refiner materials.

Keys drop randomly from containers and ARC kills across all maps, not just Dam Battlegrounds. When you find a Dam key, use it on your next Dam raid — don't hoard keys for a hypothetical perfect run. The locked room loot easily pays for the raid and then some, making key usage a consistently profitable decision.

Dam Battlegrounds has a unique resource profile that makes it particularly valuable for players progressing through mid-game crafting. The map spawns agave, apricot, candleberries, fertilizer, great mullein, moss, mushrooms, prickly pear, and roots throughout its natural areas. Fertilizer is especially notable here — it spawns more frequently on Dam Battlegrounds than on any other map.

The waterlogged lowlands and toxic areas contain containers with elevated chances for Mechanical Components, Electrical Components, and Steel Springs. The Power Plant interior has the highest density of weapon and armor crate spawns. Research Campus tends to spawn electronic materials and medical supplies disproportionately, making it the best area for players focused on Gear Bench and Utility Station crafting.

High-value static spawns are located in the locked rooms and along the Dam Crest ridge. Players who learn the specific container locations along the Crest can run efficient loot routes that avoid the dangerous Power Plant entirely while still extracting with solid hauls of crafting materials.

The safest profitable route on Dam Battlegrounds starts at a peripheral spawn, moves through the Research Campus to collect electronics and meds, then curves along the map edge toward an extraction point. This avoids the Power Plant entirely and typically encounters minimal player traffic. Average haul value is lower than a Power Plant run but the survival rate is dramatically higher.

For confident squads, the Power Plant rush is the high-reward play. Drop as close to the dam as possible, push inside quickly before other teams arrive, sweep the main floor and locked rooms if you have keys, then extract before the ARC density escalates. The Tempest Rush build — full mobility gear, Tempest primary, smoke grenades — is optimized for this aggressive approach.

Dam Crest is ideal for snipers and patient players. The Squad Anchor build — Jupiter sniper, long-range optic, shield, and plenty of healing — lets you control the high ground while teammates loot below. From Dam Crest, you can cover two extraction points and spot approaching players from hundreds of meters away. This build struggles in Hurricane conditions, so check map weather before committing to it.

Dam Battlegrounds features multiple extraction types spread across the map. The cargo elevator near the Research Campus is the safest extraction for players looting the northeast side of the map — it sees less traffic than the Power Plant extractions and has good cover during the ride sequence. The airshaft extraction near Dam Crest requires a 60 to 70 second hold, making it risky but convenient for players already positioned on the ridge.

The Power Plant has its own extraction point, but using it is extremely dangerous due to the high player and ARC density in the area. Only extract from the Power Plant if you have no other option or if you're confident the area is clear. The patch 1.17.0 map expansion added a new extraction point on the eastern edge that serves as a welcome alternative for players looting the expanded zones.

Always identify your extraction before you start looting. On Dam Battlegrounds, getting caught between the Power Plant and Dam Crest with a full inventory and no plan is how Raiders die. Pick a route, loot along it, and extract when your bags are full or when you hear too much gunfire nearby. Greed kills more Raiders on this map than ARC robots do.
